Double header Artist Spotlight

I’m really happy to have Teresa Saia and Bruce Morrow back at Froggwell again this year. I met Teresa a while back, when she was living in Issaquah, with a studio in downtown Seattle, but now she and her husband have moved back to the island, this time only a mile or so from Froggwell! Huzzah!

She recently had an award winning painting shown at the Salamagundi club in New York and let me tell you, this is an actual big deal. Here is her write up about it:

I’m so thrilled to have won the gold medal at IAPS exhibition at The Salmagundi Club New York.

International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) announces the opening of its 28th IAPS Juried Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club of New York City on Monday, June 6, 2016.IAPS serves as the umbrella organization for all pastel societies and their members from around the world. As a result, this show features the work of many of the best pastel artists working in the medium today. Only 140 amazing pieces of work will be selected from the nearly 1000 entries received. The show opens on Monday, June 6, and runs through Friday, June 17, with an exciting list of activities during the run.

Also returning to the show is long time islander Bruce Morrow, who lives here with his wife, Buffy Cribbs, also an exhibiting artist. Here are a few comments as to what he’s working on for this years show:

Here’s one of the works on paper that I have been working on lately. Most of the new work so far is watercolor. It might move into print soon- I work that way a lot, converting a painting to an etching or wood-block and visa versa. I’m thinking of calling this series  American icons, I know thats been used but thats what they are.

And it’s not a picture of a cat, but it is a baby coyote that came to visit in my yard along with a sibling. I think mom left them there for daycare.
