…today is the last day for this year’s Forgeries@Froggwell!
I can’t tell you…well, OK, that’s a lie, I’m going to tell you exactly how pleased I am at the caliber of the work that was submitted to our show this year, not to mention the inventive stories that were written by our artists to explain how all these art treasures ended up on Whidbey Island. It was an impressive show, no lie!
And of course this show could not exist without the help of our lovely gallery assistants, Karen Grossman and Polly Young:
We also had a wonderful printmaking demonstration on Saturday, presented by printmaker Linnane Armstrong, who battled bugs and shifting sunlight to do a bit of plein air printmaking. We all agreed that working in ones own studio is best, but it gave viewers a look at what goes in to printing a multiple block woodblock print. (Seven blocks in this case.)
I hope to do a wrap up post next week, and then this blog will take a little vacation. We will be back sometime in the fall with some new features, artist news and interviews with artists who have been involved in the show past and present. As we move into spring, we will bring you previews of the work that will be featured in 2014’s Froggwell Biennale.
It’s been swell! ya’ll come on down if you are on Whidbey Island today!
